Voice Mail Blues
By Lawrence Miles
Voice Mail Blues
The world is no longer run by human beings
But by a sophisticated series of machines
Who have taken human identities and developed voices
And have tricked us into believing
They work for major corporations.
We try to break out of their web by
Pressing zero for the operator but
We are simply transferred to another conspirator.
The so called military-industrial complex
Is no match for the insidiousness of
The voice-mail complex
And I remain out of the loop
For I do not have voice mail now or at any time
In my professional career
Which probably speaks volumes as to why
I can't get a decent job.
