Freelance graphic designer and producer at Monkey King Media, a startup Web design company. Developed the Web site for the Robert C. Maynard Institute of Journalism Education.

CHANNEL A

August 1996 to March 1998:

Producer Associate at Channel A, a Web site devoted to Asia-related interests. Created Studio Anime, a section in the site's entertainment area with news, features and reviews on animation and comics. Establishing the editorial direction for Studio Anime, I recruited and managed a team of freelance writers, editing their copy for publication, and created all graphics and HTML, and JavaScript for the section. I also created editorial graphics for Channel A, conducted research and wrote stories on community events and animation.

January 1997 to Present:

Creator, Co-editor and Producer of BLAST @ explode.com, an online magazine devoted to bringing irreverent musings in a Gen X world featuring internationally unknown writers. Assigned and edited stories. Designed and digitized entire web site, creating all graphics, HTML and JavaScript. Site recently awarded the USA Today "Hot Site" distinction and "site of the week" from the Web site for the syndicated TV show "Wild Wild Web." The webzine is partnered with the San Francisco Examiner, whose Web site publishes Blast stories once a week.

WIRED MAGAZINE

June 1995 to September 1995:

Editorial Intern at Wired magazine. Wrote articles on the Internet, animation, computer games and video games; conducted research for new products; helped localize articles for Wired UK; represented Wired in the magazine's forum on America Online; requested products for review; and sent out rejection letters.

THE LOWELL STUDENT NEWSPAPER

Sept. 1993 to June 1994:

Editor-in-Chief at The Lowell, an award-winning high school newspaper with a 3,000 circulation published every three weeks. Supervised 23 editors on content and layout of the paper.

Sept. 1992 to Sept. 1993:

News Editor and Feature Editor at The Lowell. Responsible for story management for biggest section in the paper. Assigned and edited stories. Managed typesetting, headline writing, paste-up, and color placement operation. Covered San Francisco school board meetings and general assignment as a reporter. Also wrote campus news, features and reviews.

THE WEST OF TWIN PEAKS OBSERVER
Neighborhood Newspaper

June 1993:

Freelance Writer for the West of Twin Peaks Observer, a monthly neighborhood newspaper with a 7,000 circulation.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Will teach the two-day "Build Your Own Web Page" track at this year's Asian American Journalists Association national convention in Chicago in August.

SKILLS

Proficient in HTML and in creating Web graphics. Familiar with JavaScript and CGI scripting with Perl, as well as with DeBabelizer, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Pagemaker, Barebone's BBEdit, Macromedia Dreamweaver and Freehand. Able to work in Mac OS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95/98, and Unix environments.
